Bernard Rooke studied painting and lithography at Ipswich School of Art during the mid fifties before going on to study printmaking and ceramics at Goldsmiths College, London in 1959. In 1960, he established a workshop in Forest Hill, London, with Alan Wallwork, whilst lecturing at Goldsmiths College and St. Mary's College, London University. In 1967 Rooke moved to Ipswich, where he opened the Bernard Rooke Gallery. Rooke's works have been exhibited in the UK and abroad, and are held in collections such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, Leicester Museum, and Trondheim Museum, Norway, to name but a few.
